These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I love the feeling of a fresh start that spring seems to bring. In all aspects of life really – whether it is finally giving away those bags of clothes that have been sitting in your office (guilty), re-doing a room in your home, cleaning out your diet or freshening up your wardrobe. This time of year always feels like a time to start new and I’ve found myself considering this in all aspects of my life. You know when you go to dressed and hate everything in your closet? I’ve been having that feeling lately. I decided to go through my closet and really evaluate what items just aren’t my style anymore, which items have seen better days and what I’m missing. Making a list always helps me and that is just what I did.

I’ve mentioned this before but since becoming a mom I’ve really streamlined my wardrobe. I’ve decided that the classic items in my closet are truly what I love and feel the best wearing. Throwing together an outfit like this feels so much more effortless than outfits that can sometimes be a little forced (case in point here and here). Am I making sense? Sure there will always be an instance where I splurge on a pretty dress for a special occasion or a print that I can’t live without…but I always feel like I can’t wear those items very often so they end up spending most of their time in my closet. Investing in items that can be worn multiple ways with multiple outfits is your best route and these items are a prime example.

When I saw these sandals I knew they had to be mine. I love the retro vibe with the knotted straps and the red was a fun pop of color! They are under $100 and come in 3 colors. I am kind of addicted to chambray tops. They are the easiest thing to throw on when you have nothing to wear. I love the darling shoulders and swingy shape on this style. It is more feminine than my typical structured button down and I’ve been wearing it with white jeans and printed shorts (oh my gosh I need these). It is currently 40% off so GO BUY IT! Would be adorable with these statement earrings, too.

Whenever I’m in need of new inspiration I like to browse Nordstrom’s new arrivals. Since they have everything from fashion to beauty to home I know I’ll find the latest and greatest. I decided to add a few new beauty products to my routine – including this under eye concealer/brightener (I got color .5), this mascara (I have really straight/long lashes so this helps them curl!) and this eyebrow gel (which has little fibers that latch onto bare spots in your brows to fill them in – genius). My lipstick is another new favorite – Bobbi Brown Liquid Lip in Uber Red

PS: Sadly my Karen Walker sunglasses are old (similar styles here and here) and my Clare V. bag is sold out!
