Chicago prides itself in their restaurants scene and for good reason. There are so many amazing options to try. Dave and I tend to revert to our favorites, one of them being brunch at Elly’s Pancake House

When I was pregnant with Charlie, Dave and I would grab breakfast after every one of our doctor’s appointment. It became a tradition and something I always looked forward to. Now that Charlie is here I love visualizing my big belly and then watching him in his high chair sitting next to me. It is something I know I’ll remember and cherish even after we leave the city. Now Elly’s has become a part of our family and holds a special place in our hearts.

Here are 4 more restaurants that we love in the city:

1. Homeslice – yummy pizza and cozy vibes
2. Gemini Bistro – our favorite spot for a casual date night
3. Burger Bar Chicago – laid back but amazing burgers (get the Bison Burger!)
4. Green Tea Sushi – seriously the best sushi we’ve had in the city!

  1. Those pancakes look incredible! Since moving to Chicago, we’ve been eating out far more than I care to admit, but there are just too many good spots to choose from. We live in the River North area and love going to Happy Camper for pizza and beer (visited Homeslice a few years ago on a trip!)…I also made the mistake of trying the grilled cheese at Three Arts Cafe and now it’s all I ever think about 🙂 haha. Pete loves a good bison burger and now I can’t wait to take him to Burger Bar!

  2. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I walked a few miles north to Wrigleyville and actually passed Elly’s. I literally made a note of it on my phone, but we still haven’t been. Hopefully soon. Everything you ordered looks delicious!

  3. Osteria La Madia is my favorite! I lived in Oakbrook and on a whim I tried them… 3 hour roasted grape white pizza and frisee and fingerling potato salad, so darn good! I’ll be back next year for a wedding and can’t wait to try your suggestions! Thank you.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing! I am planning a trip out to Chicago in the coming months, so this came at perfect timing! If you have any other suggestions for a New England girl coming to the Midwest I would love to hear them! Xo

  5. Liz,

My hubby just surprised me with a trip to Chicago for the upcoming restaurant week. Have you ever participated? I would love some insight and suggestions. I haven’t been to Chicago since college and spent most of my time at a friend’s house, so I am excited to actually explore the city as an adult. I CANNOT wait to eat my way through the city.
