You may have noticed that my outfits the last 6 months are much simpler than something I may have worn before Charlie. Time for myself is short so I need pieces that are easy to assemble, comfortable, classic and outfits that I won’t second guess when I walk out the door – you know? I’ve discovered that there are a few items that I rely on heavily…

A great pair of jeans. I have short legs so there are two styles that I rely on to give me some length – flares and skinny/straight denim that hits just above my ankle bone. A few of my tried and true favorites are these, these, these, these and these. Also, how amazing do these sound?

A white blouse. My closet is definitely ruled by white tops – boho styles, silk button down, feminine tank, off the shoulder. They are classic and always help me to feel put together. This season and I am loving this, this, this, this, this and this.

A crossbody bag. There is something casual yet chic about a good crossbody bag and I have to thank them for always forcing me to pair down my shit. There are so many great styles for spring including this, this, this, this and this.

Statement sunnies. If you ever need to complete your look, statement sunglasses are the way to go. On days when I look like a hot mess I am so grateful for my sunglasses. My favorites include these, these, these, these, these, these and these.

A feminine dress. I already think about how excited I am to pull out my dresses with short booties, ballet flats, and caged heels for spring. I am eyeing this, this, this, this and this.

What are essentials in your closet? Do you have a go-to uniform?

  1. Nice post! The older I get, the more I love simple basics because I like to by comfy! My go-to is definitely denim, a striped shirt, a casual button own, cross-body bag, and neutral flats.

  2. I practically live in flats and just picked up a second pair of nude/blush toned because they’re the pair I’ve been reaching for the most lately! I also own more stripes than I care to admit. The stripes add a little something to the denim, flats and crossbody I’m usually rocking. I LOVE this top and think I’m going to pull the trigger on it because I just got a pair of dark flares it would go perfect with!

  3. Love, love, love this look! I just want to copy & paste this into my closet!
And I would never guess you have short legs – those jeans make them look a mile long.

  4. Hey Liz! I love this post because everything is right on point! You’re blog is my constant daily read! I love your style and this post is no exception. I’m short too and I’ve always been scared to wear flares but you look so great I think I need to go out and get a pair!

My spring essentials is a always fun feminine dress. I just moved to Las Vegas from San Francisco where it’s literally too hot to function, so a airy dress is a must in my eyes. As always thanks for the outfit inspiration, and your bod is looking great for a new mommy.

  5. I agree with you on all of these. I love this bag so much:)

I have a vintage black Chanel crossbody b/c they just don’t make them like that anymore w/ tassel on the side and the soft leather.
I think I bought it for $500 in the recession and then was offered $2k for it recently. Not bad!?? ha!
